Straight outta Compton (aka Comic-Con) comes the seemingly crazy announcement of Street Fighter X Tekken. Think of it like the old Capcom Vs. SNK games, all on the Street Fighter 4 engine. We caught wind of this before the show, but in no way did I think it was going to be a reality. They sure did show me.

Now, I’ve never been the biggest Tekken fan, or even 3D fighting game fan (VF3: Team Battle 4Life) but the Tekken franchise did stand out as something I should take a closer look at. My limited experience with Tekken 5 and 6 was fun, but nothing really more than that. I thought, when Tekken 6 was released (and I got that sweet hoodie and giant box), here’s my chance! But alas, Street Fighter 4 took up any free time I had, fighting game wise. So really, this is a perect fit for someone like me. I still get to play SF4 and now I can have a crack at Tekken at the same time. They also through in some some Marvel Vs. Capcom (my other neglected fighter) tag-style combat so now they have a game that combines what I play and what I want to play.

And here’s the stuff you really want to see. The announcement trailer and some gameplay.

Thanks 1up.com and GameVideos, oh and Capcom.
